Their report comes as a result of the recent $100,000+ investigation by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, that was initiated on January 15th.
On that same day, NOAA Administrator Kathryn Sullivan and her Chief of Staff Livia DiSabatino called the Commerce Department Inspector General and requested that a “wide-ranging and comprehensive investigation be performed by the Inspector General” into the matter.
The “sea level data” are from the U.S. Global Change Research Program and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Surface Temperature Analysis (STA) program, which also contributes data to the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC).
These datasets are used to “reveal the ‘trends’ in our oceans, land, ice, and atmosphere, and help us forecast what the climate might look like in the future.”
